Real Dowagiac advances to Blossomland semifinals

NILES — Oscar Lara and Alejandro Hurtado both scored as Real Dowagiac advanced to the semifinals of the Blossomland Cup.

Real Dowagiac (4-7-2) edged the Tornados (5-4-4) 2-1 to advance to Sunday’s semifinal against top-seed Athletic Jaier.

Erik Syrjanen had the lone goal for the Tornados.

In other first round action, the Wolverines edged the Michigan Diamonds 2-1 and the St. Joe Kickers Premier blanked P&R FC 2-0.

Andy Low and Mat Peters scored for the Wolverines, who advanced to the semifinals to face the Kickers Premier.

Jesus Sanchez scored for the Diamonds, who bow out of the tournament with an 8-2-1 record.
The Wolverines are now 7-4-2.

Former Dowagiac standout Efrain Soto had both goals for the Kickers, who improve to 7-4-2.
P&R FC finishes its season at 9-1-1.

Sunday’s winners will play for the Blossomland Cup on next Sunday at the Kickers Club in Arden at 3 p.m.
