EDWARDSBURG – Eagle Lake Marine, UniTech and Spin Zone will present the first-ever Eagle Lake Triathlon on Saturday, Aug. 7 to benefit Life Treatment Centers.

This event will start and finish at Eagle Lake Marine located at 68777 Avenue A, Edwardsburg.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and will consist of two triathlon course options.

The “Sprint” course is the longer of the two and involves an 800-yard swim, a 17.2-mile bike ride, and a 5.3-mile run.

The second course option, “Super Sprint,” is great for more beginner tri-athletes and entails a 200-yard swim, 6.8-mile bike ride, and a 1.4-mile run.

As a way to encourage participation, there are also relay options for both courses:

Participants are invited to put together a relay team of two or three people where each person would do a portion of the race.

The Eagle Lake Triathlon will be composed of a clear lake swim with a mostly flat bike course loop, and a flat, fast run around the lake.

There will be chip timing for the athletes and separate transition areas for “Sprint” and “Super Sprint” courses. Each athlete will receive a tech shirt and is invited to the post race barbeque. Medals will also be distributed in an award ceremony in each age group.

“We are thrilled that the residents of Eagle Lake have embraced this event to raise money for Life Treatment Centers,” said Paula Turk, Race Director.  “This lake community is a slice of heaven with warm, friendly people. What else could be a better way to spend a beautiful summer morning, and then to have fun and help others?”
