Quest for the Cup begins

The Quest for the Blossomland Cup begins on Thursday with six teams in action.
Athletic Jaier, a 3-0 winner over the St. Joe Kickers Premier on Sunday, finished as the regular season champion and received a first round bye.

Jaier completed the season unbeaten with a 10-0-2 record.

Alex Boehm had a pair of goals and Matt Hendrix scored for Jaier against the Kickers, who finished at 6-4-2.

In opening round action on Thursday night, the Wolverines, who finished second in the First Division, will take on the runner-up in the Second Division Michigan Diamonds at Brandywine High School.

The Kickers Premier, who ended up third in the First Division, will face P&R FC, the first place finisher in the Second Division, at the Kickers Club.

The other match will pit fourth place (First Division) Tornados against the fifth place (First Division) Real Dowagiac at Ballard Elementary in Niles.

All matches begin at 6:30 p.m.

Jaier will take on the winner of  the Tornados-Real Dowagiac match on Sunday at Bridgman High School at 2 p.m.
