Ron Sather, the president of the Four Flags Area Chamber of Commerce, is expecting a record crowd for Saturday night’s 25th annual fireworks display sponsored by the chamber.

If the weather is as good as forecasted, the event could draw about 6,000 people, according to Sather.

He said the community is fortunate to even have a fireworks show.

“A lot more cities are not having fireworks anymore because of the economy,” he said. “But this is a community effort and a great hometown deal that we do.”

Sather said more than 100 donors made the fireworks possible this year and 45 volunteers will help during the event.

Even people from surrounding communities come to see the 45-minute Niles fireworks display, according to Sather.

The event will begin at dusk at the Apple Festival Fairgrounds. Admission is free but donations are accepted. Food and drink vendors will be on site as well.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for clear skies and temperatures in the upper 60s Saturday evening.
