Doris I. Howard, 81, of Ontario Road, Niles died at 11:04 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Indiana to Clarence Fitz and Sarah Geneva (Wilson) Fitz. She was a lifetime area resident.

Doris retired after many years of service at Simplicity Pattern Co., Niles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger M. Howard, on Jan. 15, 2001; a son, John Pegan, in 1972; and three brothers and a sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Terry (Johnny) Hamilton, of Niles and Linda (Kenneth) Ambrozewski, of Nevada, Mo.; three sons, James (Patricia) Pegan, of South Bend, Fredrick Pegan, of Niles and Thomas Pegan, of Niles; four grandchildren; and a sister, Thelma Bakeman, of Niles.

Public graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2010 at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Niles with the Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church officiating.
There will be no visitation.
