Doris I. Howard, 81, of Ontario Road, Niles died at 11:04 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Lakeland Community Hospital, Niles of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 16, 1928 in Indiana to Clarence Fitz and Sarah Geneva (Wilson) Fitz. She was a lifetime area resident and retired after many years of service at Simplicity Pattern Co. in Niles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger M. Howard, who died Jan. 15, 2001; son, John Pegan who died in 1972; three brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Terry (Johnny) Hamilton, of Niles and Linda (Kenneth) Ambrozewski, of Nevada, Mo.; three sons, James (Patricia) Pegan, of South Bend, Fredrick Pegan, of Niles and Thomas Pegan, of Niles; a sister, Thelma Bakeman, of Niles; and four grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Burial will be held at Smith Chapel Cemetery, Niles.

There will be no visitation.
