Alfred Tomczak, 81, of Colorado and Dowagiac, passed away at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph on Friday, June 4, 2010.
Alfred was born Sept. 26, 1928, in Chicago to the late Frank and Martha (Hinc) Tomczak.
Alfred was married at a ceremony in Dowagiac on May 9, 1953, to Betty (Bournay) Tomczak.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, carpenter work and even built several of the family’s houses.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leonard Tomczak.
Alfred is survived by: his wife; two sons, Alfred (Tami) Tomczak Jr. of Dowagiac and Stephen (Cindy) Tomczak of Dowagiac; three daughters, Debbie (James) Davis of Dowagiac, Pamela (Tom) Douglass of San Antonio, Texas, and Kathy (Kevin) Valdes of St. Joseph; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Rose Mary Bowman of Coaldale, Colo.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 26, at 10 a.m. at Holy Maternity of Mary Catholic Church in Dowagiac.
Burial will be at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colo.
Memorial contributions may be made in Alfred’s memory to the American Cancer Society and American Diabetes.
