Mary Maxine (Mickey) Lindley, 87, of Edwardsburg died Thursday, June 10, 2010 at Elkhart General Hospital after a short illness.

She was born Jan. 2, 1923 in Goshen, Ind. to Samuel C. and Gertrude I. Oaks.

On Aug. 10, 1941, she was married to Robert J. Fackelman of Elkhart. A B-17 pilot, he died in the Battle of the Bulge on Dec. 24, 1944. On Aug. 28, 1948, she was married to L. Reid Lindley, of Edwardsburg. A three-war veteran, he died on Memorial Day, May 27, 2002.

Mrs. Lindley retired in 1984 from CTS Corp. after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Winding Waters Brethren Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Fackelman) Dempsey and Lisa (Lindley) Focht, both of Edwardsburg; three granddaughters, Julie (Todd) Parsons and Jocelyn Dempsey, both of Edwardsburg, and Kelly (Erik) Hamlin of Elkhart; two great-grandsons, Brandon Parsons and Blake Parsons, both of Edwardsburg; a sister, Mildred Bloom of Elkhart; a niece, Brenda Madrid, of Moore, Okla., and a nephew, Gregory Bloom, of Lewiston, Maine.

She was preceded in death by a newborn sister; a brother, Leonard Oaks, and a half-brother, Howard Flickinger.

Friends called from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, June 15 at Billings Funeral Home in Elkhart. Graveside services followed at Five Points Cemetery in Edwardsburg with the Rev. Ron Walters, former associate pastor at Winding Waters Brethren Church, officiating.
