Doris J. Wesley, 83, of Fir Road in Niles died at 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka, Ind. following an extended illness.

Mrs. Wesley was born Aug. 18, 1926 in Milton Township to Dewey and Florence (Butts) Annis. She graduated from Edwardsburg Agricultural School in 1944, and was a lifetime resident of this area. She retired in 1976 as an administrative assistant for her husband’s company, Nylontool Inc. in Niles. She had also been employed at Forte Plastics in Niles; L.S. Ayers in Mishawaka; and the Edwardsburg Public Library. From 1961 to 2008, she was a sexton at Smith Chapel Cemetery.

Doris was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Edwardsburg. She was also a member of Modern Moms Club in Edwardsburg; the Smith Chapel Cemetery Board; Edwardsburg Historical Society; and the United Way of Edwardsburg. She was a former chairperson of the Cass County March of Dimes. She wad served as Milton Township treasurer for more than 20 years.

On March 9, 1946 she married Don S. Wesley, who preceded her in death March 15, 1991.

Mrs. Wesley was also preceded in death by her daughters, Maureen and Mary Kay Wesley, and a brother, Vernon Annis.

She is survived by a daughter, Ann Marie (Kenneth) Thompson, of Odgen Dunes, Ind; a son, John L. (Barbara) Wesley, of Bristol, Ind.; and grandchildren, Tracey K. and Wesley G. Thompson.

Memorial services for Doris J. and Don S. Wesley will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Smith Chapel on Redfield Road in Niles with the Rev. Jeff Reese of New Hope Methodist Church in Edwardsburg officiating.

Interment will be at Smith Chapel Cemetery in Niles.

There will be no visitation.
