Virginia ‘Ginger’ Strauss Rosevelt

Ginger Rosevelt passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010, in Ann Arbor at the age of 67.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor and a former member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Dowagiac.

Ginger was a public health nurse and an occasional columnist for the Dowagiac Daily News.

Ginger spent most of her life in southwestern Michigan before moving to Ann Arbor to be closer to family.

Earlier in her life she enjoyed gardening, writing and raising her family.

She was a gracious, caring woman who loved hearing all the news from her family and friends.

After a long battle with multiple sclerosis she died peacefully with her children at her side.

She is survived by: her children, Dave Rosevelt (Susan), Christine Gajar (Eric) and Suzanne Osborne (Derek); and seven grandchildren.

Also surviving are: two siblings, Arnold Strauss (Patricia) and Mary Jo Gilmer (Lyonel).
Ginger was the daughter of the late Bob and Betty Strauss of St. Joseph.

Visitation will be Friday, June 18, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 W. Liberty in Ann Arbor, MI 48103.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday June 19, at Zion Lutheran Church.

Ginger has donated her body for scientific research to the medical school at University of Michigan.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society may be made. Addressed envelopes will be provided at the church.
