Edwardsburg takes Lakeland title

COLOMA – The Edwardsburg boys and Berrien Springs girls track teams captured Lakeland Conference championships Thursday night (May 27).

The Eddies scored 162 points to overwhelm the field.

Berrien Springs was second with 96 points and Bridgman third with 77. Buchanan (76), Brandywine (69.5), Cassopolis (33.5) and Coloma (13) rounded out the order of finish.
Edwardsburg’s Josh Clark was the star of the boys’ portion of the meet, winning three tough distance events in the heat.

Clark captured the 800-, 1.600- and 3,200-meters. He repeated as Lakeland Conference champion in the 1,600-meters.

The Eddies had two other conference champions in Jorge Martinez in the long jump and Nick Thomas in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles.

Brandywine logged a pair of championships as David Dykema won the 400-meters and the Bobcats’s 1,600-meter relay team finished on top.

Buchanan’s Torrie Eger was a double champion as she captured the 1,600- and 3,200-meter titles.
