Virginia Louise Hartline Waite, 90, residing in Niles passed away at 5 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at home with her grandson Bobby, and Patty Grice, and family by her side.
She was born March 15, 1920 in New Troy, Mich. a daughter of Silas and Martha (Frew) Hartline, and has lived in Niles and the surrounding area since 1936.

She was employed as a nurse’s aide at Country Care Convalescent Home, retiring after 14 years of service.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 26 for 40 years and the Baron Lake Mothers Club for 42 years.

Virginia was preceded in death by a son, Dick Grice; two grandsons, Johnny Grice and LeRoy Willard; and five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Phyllis Grice, of South Bend; a daughter-in-law, Sandy Grice, of Niles; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 36 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2010 at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Three Oaks, Mich. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1 at the funeral home.
