Toisa B. Hand, 91, of Crystal Springs Road in Berrien Center, Mich. died at 8:55 a.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 at her home following a brief illness.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1919 in Liberty, Saskatchewan, Canada to Hugh R. and Alma (Hilton) Allen.

She lived most of her lifetime in this area.

She was the Secretary-Treasurer for 50 years at the Hampshire Country Club in Dowagiac.

She was a member of the Pokagon United Methodist Church in Niles and enjoyed feeding and watching hummingbirds.

On May 10, 1940 in Pokagon, Mich., she married Ray B. Hand, who survives.

She is also survived by her son, Jeffrey (Jeanne) Hand of Niles; grandchildren Milisa A. Hand of Copley, Ohio, Robert A. Hand of Niles; great-grandchildren Bostin and Gambit Hand and Dade Walls.

She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Services for Toisa B. Hand will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Rev. Patricia Haas of Pokagon United Methodist Church in Niles officiating.

Interment will be at Sumnerville Cemetery in Sumnerville Mich.

The family received relatives and friends from 4 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Contributions in memory of Toisa may be made to Pokagon Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
