Ella Keller, 97, of Holland, formerly of Dowagiac, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, in Appledorn Living Center in Holland.

Ella was formerly of 56824 California Road, Pokagon Township.

She was born July 19, 1912, to Sophia Horstman and Henry F. Busick in Silver Creek Township. In 1936, she married John R. Keller, a prominent farmer and politician who died in 1996.

She was a 1929 graduate of Dowagiac High School, Cass County Normal 1930 and 1966 graduate of Western Michigan University.

She taught rural and city schools for 17 years and was active in Pokagon farm operation for more than 60 years.

She is preceded in death by a sister, Ina B. Curran, and a brother, Glen.

She is survived by her two sons, Lawrence, of Stanwood, Mich., and John, of Ludington, Mich.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be no visitation or services.
