Edwardsburg locks up Lakeland golf title

CASSOPOLIS – The Edwardsburg golf team officially locked up the regular season Lakeland Conference championship on Friday as it swept the league jamborees.

The Eddies captured the final jamboree held at Diamond Lake as they shot 156 to win by 12 strokes over runner-up Coloma (168).

Buchanan finished a season-high third with a 169, while Brandywine was fourth with a 173 and host Cassopolis fifth with a 177. Berrien Springs and Bridgman round out the scoring with a 186 and a 199 respectively.

Going into the league tournament on Thursday at Four Lakes in Edwardsburg, the Eddies have 42 points compared to 33 for second place Coloma.

Berrien Springs is third with 28 points, Brandywine fourth with 21 points, Buchanan fifth with 19 points, Cassopolis sixth with 15 points and Bridgman seventh with 10 points.

The Rangers Blaise Suseland was medalist after shooting 35.

The Eddies were led by Chris Eaton’s 36. Curtis Holmes shot 38, Cameron Barber 39, Dominic Razzano 43, Brody Baucus 44 and Pierce Bourgeois 45.

The Bucks were led by Brent Brown’s 40. Buchanan also got a 42 from Derek Blank, a 43 from Josh Whitfield, a 44 from Adam Byrdak, a 50 from Dustan Craig and a 42 from Kole Griffey.

Dillon Bailey shot 39 for the Bobcats, who got a 44 from both Zach Rose and Jason Andrews. Nate Balint shot 46, Adam Earles shot 48 and Dylan Frost shot 52.

Besides Suseland’s 35, the Rangers also got a 44 from Gavin Francis, a 48 from Tim Coates, a 50 from Aaron Goodrich, a 52 from Tony Jones and a 63 from Conner Wright.
