Dowagiac JV baseball team splits with Trojans

PLAINWELL – The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team split a doubleheader with Plainwell Friday afternoon.

The Trojans won the first game 12-1, while the Chieftains rebounded to win the second game 9-7.

Matt Ernzen, who took the loss, had a single for Dowagiac. Jacob Williams drove in the Chieftains’ run.

Jeremy Juday worked five innings to earn the win in the nightcap. Williams picked up the save.

Todd McIntyre doubled, singled twice and drove in a run for Dowagiac, which also got two hits and three RBIs from Ernzen.

Logan Pellow singled and doubled to pick up an RBI. Juday added a pair of hits.

JV softball
PLAINWELL – Visiting Dowagiac was swept by Plainwell in JV softball Friday afternoon.

The Trojans won the first game 5-1 and then took the second game 15-7.

Taylor Meiser, Kylee Williams and Paige Schaus all singled for Dowagiac.

Meiser took the loss. She struck out seven.

In the second game, Shelby Huston had a pair of singles for the Chieftains, who also got hits from Meiser, Smith, Katie Brooks, Jenna File, Schaus and Williams.

Smith and Meiser shared the pitching duties, combining for four strikeouts.
