Wortham wins 400-meters at Allegan

ALLEGAN – Battle Creek Lakeview won both the boys’ and girls’ titles at the Allegan Invitational on Friday night.

Mattawan was second in the girls’ portion of the meet and Sturgis third. Dowagiac placed sixth and Niles seventh.

Vicksburg was the boys’ runner-up, while St. Joseph took third. Niles placed eighth and Dowagiac 11th.

Niles’ Andrew Wortham captured the 400-meters to earn the only first place finish in either the boys’ or girls’ events.

Wortham ran a time of 50.20.

The Niles 800-meter relay was second with a time of 1:33.01.

Jordan Potthoff took fifth in the discus with a toss of 130-7.

Madie Rodts picked up a pair of second place finishes as she ran a 5:22.18 in the 1,600-meters and a 2:26.66 in the 800-meters.

She was also part of the fourth place 1,600-meter relay team, along with Taylor Brandstatter, Paige Chaffin and Karen Nichols, which ran a time of 4:17.02.

Brandstatter was also third in the 400-meters with a time of 1:02.48.
