Orlie A. Davis, 97, of South Third Street, Niles died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2010 in Niles following a brief illness.

He was born Nov. 13, 1912 in Ravenden Springs, Ark. to Robert Davis and Myrtle Bailey Davis. He graduated from high school in Arkansas and came to Niles in 1938. He was employed at Bendix in both brakes and aerospace, from which he retired in 1975. He was a member of Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church. He earned several college credits at Andrews University. As a young man, he enjoyed the outdoors and fishing, and with his wife they traveled most of Michigan’s rivers by canoe.

He married Roberta Irene (Eckhart) Davis on June 1, 1939 in South Bend. Roberta died Oct. 18, 2007.

He is survived by a brother, Herman Davis, of Hickory Corners, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; many friends; and Sara Herzberg, who provided his care.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Darrel le Roux of the church officiating.

Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Berrien Springs.

Friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

Arrangements were made by Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.

Memorial contributions may be made to the music department of Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church.
