EDWARDSBURG – A pair of Edwardsburg teens were involved in a Wednesday evening crash that left one severely injured.

Emily Cernak, 17, and Cecilio Trevino, 19, of Edwardsburg were traveling east on US 12 at Brush Road in Milton Township when a vehicle operated by Rachel Bedford, 20, of Granger, Ind. was coming to a stop on Brush Road.

Cernak believed that the Bedford vehicle was entering US 12 and swerved to avoid a collision, ran off the roadway striking a stop sign and an embankment.

Cernak sustained minor injuries, while Trevino sustained a major injury.

Both parties were transported to Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center by Edwardsburg Ambulance.

Seatbelts were used by the driver and not used by the passenger.

Cass County Deputies were assisted on scene by Edwardsburg Fire and EMS.

This incident remains under investigation.
