The Dowagiac varsity golf team stepped away from Wolverine Conference play Thursday afternoon to host Coloma from the Lakeland Conference.

The Comets currently stand second in the Lakeland standings, while the Chieftains are second in the Wolverine title chase.

Dowagiac easily defeated Coloma as it shot 159 compared to 185 for the Comets.

Chris Craft and Kyle Ward both finished with scores of 38.

Dowagiac also got a 40 from Max Howe, a 43 from Cody Fairleigh, a 47 from Jorday Juday and a 51 from Gaige Grant.

Chad Herman led the Comets with a 43.
