Dowagiac thinclads get swept

PAW PAW – The Dowagiac boys’ and girls’ track teams were swept by host Paw Paw Tuesday night in a Wolverine Conference doubleheader.

The Chieftain boys’ team was defeated by the Redskins 80-57, while the girls’ team was defeated 102-33.

Despite the losses, Dowagiac had some stellar performances.

Chris Gantt won two individual events and was a member of the winning 3,200-meter relay team.

Gantt won the 1,600-meters with a time of 4:44.68 and the 3,200-meters with a time of 10:41.20.

He was joined on the relay team by Robert Andrade, Joey Pasternak and Kasey Proshwitz. They ran a time of 8:50.12.

Mike Hemenway was a double winner as he captured both the shot put and the discus.
In the shot he threw 40-11, while in the discus he threw 104-6.

Kyle Write won the pole vault with a height of 11-feet.

Jon Myers captured the 200-meters with a time of 23.96.

Kaisha Martin won three more events against the Redskins.

She captured the long jump (15-7.34), the 100-meters (12.73) and the 400-meters (1:03.74).

Regina Kennedy won the discus with a toss of 87-6, while Cierra Mattix won the pole vault with a height of 8-feet.
