Richard D. Flenar, 67, of Buchanan died Friday, April 30, 2010 at his home.

He was born March 16, 1943 to the late Otis M. and Beatrice E. (Neal) Flenar. On July 11, 1981 in Buchanan, he married his wife, Karen.

Dick retired from the City of Buchanan, where he worked as the sexton at Oak Ridge Cemetery, head of the street department and then in recycling. He was a member of the American Legion Post 51 and the Moose 449, both of Buchanan. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid University of Michigan fan.

Surviving is his wife, Karen Flenar; children, Jeff (Cindy) Flenar, of Flower Mound, Texas, Jim (Kelly) Flenar, of Niles, Tammy McKee, of Buchanan, Melissa Poole, of Buchanan and Scott Prince, of Hillsboro, Ill.; and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister.

The funeral service will be Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Pastor Charles Johnston will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan.
