No. 4 Lakeshore sweeps Chieftains

STEVENSVILLE – Rebounding from a split with Lakeshore on Wednesday, the No. 4 ranked Lakeshore Lancers swept the Dowagiac softball team 13-3 and 18-3 Friday afternoon.

The sweep left the Chieftains with a 6-8 record, while the Lancers improve to 12-3 on the year.

Both teams scored in the first two innings of the opener, but Lakeshore held a 9-3 advantage on the scoreboard.

The Lancers scored a run in the fifth and 3 in the sixth to cut the game short.

Lakeshore had 12 hits off of Dowagiac’s Miranda East, including three for extra bases.

Katie Lorenz doubled for one of the Chieftains’ four hits.

Things got worse for Dowagiac in the nightcap.

The Lancers exploded for 14 runs in the second inning and the game ended after just four innings.

Lakeshore picked up 18 hits in the second game off of the Chieftains’ Tara Sova. The Lancers had six doubles in the nightcap.

Lorenz had another double in the second game as the Chieftains were held to just two hits.
