Edwardsburg baseball sweeps Norrix, splits with Wildcats

Five runs over the final four innings helped the Edwardsburg baseball team earn a split over visiting Three Rivers on Tuesday.

Edwardsburg won the first game 7-6, but dropped the nightcap 7-1.

The Eddies trailed the Wildcats 3-0 after the first two innings, knotted the score at 2-2 in the third and took a 3-2 lead in the fourth.

Three Rivers scored a run in the fifth to tie the score at 5-5 only to have the Eddies score three times in the bottom of the fifth to take a 6-5 lead.

A run in the top of the seventh by the Wildcats squared the score at 6-6, but the Eddies scored in the bottom of the seventh to pull out the 7-6 victory.

Ethan Moreno picked up the win in relief of starter Zach Thompson.

Wade Smous doubled and singled, while Kyle Ramsey also doubled and Mike Kempton added a pair of singles.

Three Rivers scored three in the first and four in the fifth to win the second game.
Kyle Slack took the loss for the Eddies.

Smous had a single and a double for half of the Edwardsburg hits.

Loy Norrix at Edwardsburg
The Edwardsburg baseball team split a doubleheader with visiting Kalamazoo Loy Norrix.

The Eddies (7-5) took the first game 4-3 and then completed the sweep with a 9-7 win.

Evan Zimmerman and Trevor Milliken picked up the wins for Edwardsburg.

Kyle Ramsey, Zach Thompson and Ethan Moreno all doubled in the opener. Wade Smous and Austin Stinnett both doubled in the nightcap.

Thompson finished with five hits on the day.

Cassopolis at Bridgman
BRIDGMAN – The host Bridgman Bees swept a Lakeland Conference doubleheader from Cassopolis on Tuesday.

The Bees won the first game 16-1 in three innings and then completed the swep with a 13-2 win in five innings.

Kevin Hatcher and Nate Blad suffered the losses for the Rangers on the mound.

Dwayne Morgan had a triple for Cassopolis in the opener.
