Niles senior Madie Rodts had a big day for the girls’ track team as she captured four events for the Vikings.

But despite her efforts, Niles came up short, falling to visiting Mattawan 91.5-71.5.

The Viking boys’ team road the legs of Ronnie Jones and Andrew Wortham to an 84.5-78.5 win over the Wildcats.
Rodts was a winner in the 3,200-meter relay, 1,600-meters, 800-meters and 3,200-meters.

She was joined on the relay team by Taylor Brandstatter, Gabie Ezell and Bridgette Carpenter.

“Madie Rodts once again did an excellent job leading the team by placing first in all of her events,” Niles coach Jami Foster said. “Taylor Brandstatter did a great job in the open 400-meter dash and the 200-meter dash by earning a personal best times in both events.”

Other first place efforts for the Vikings came in the long jump from Ashley Love, the high jump from Morgan Farmer and the 800-meter relay team of Brandstatter, Savannah Wolnik, Love and Lindsey Chavous.

Wortham, like Rodts, was a multiple winner as he took first in the 400-meters, 200-meters and was a member of the winning 800- and 1,600-meter relay teams. He paired with Jones, Anthony Bice and Brandon Partee in the 800-meters, and then Quinton Murphy, Gonzalez and Horvath in the 1,600-meters.

Jones also won the long jump and the 100-meters.
Murphy was a winner in the 800-meters.
