Eldon Duane Shaffer, 89, of 2329 Emerald Drive, Niles died at 8:03 a.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at home of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 8, 1921 in Buchanan. He was a lifetime resident of Niles.
He retired from Bendix Corp. in South Bend. He was a United States Navy veteran; loved the outdoors and fishing; and enjoyed watching his sons play sports.
He married Donna (Fedore) Shaffer on Feb. 16, 1953 in Berrien Center.
He is survived by his wife, Donna, of Niles; sons, Jack (Becky) Shaffer, of Niles, Terry Shaffer, of Niles and Patrick Shaffer, of Brandon, Fla.; brothers, Bill (Louise) Shaffer, of Muscadine, Ala., Gordon (Jan) Shaffer, of Buchanan and Larry Shaffer, of Berrien Springs; and sisters, Maylyn Sunday, of Berrien Springs.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Rod Shaffer, and sister, Virginia Shaffer.
Cremation has been held.
