Bobcats open up league play with a sweep

CASSOPOLIS – Visiting Brandywine opened up defense of its Lakeland Conference championship with an 8-0 win over Cassopolis on Tuesday.

The Bobcats dropped only seven games in sweeping the single flights.

The most competitive match of the day came at No. 4 doubles where Ashley DeJonge and Cassie Kelley defeated Karleigh Wright and Jade Gaston 6-3 and 6-2.

“It was a good way for us to begin conference play,” Brandywine coach Joe Marazita said. “Jessica played very well in singles and Lena and Katie were solid in doubles.”
