Warmer temperatures and sunnier skies means spring is here and that means it’s time for America’s favorite pastime: baseball.

Members of the Edwardsburg community can take part in the annual Edwardsburg Day at the Cove event, which has been announced to take place May 1.

Tickets are available now.

“They are free, they can pick them up here,” Della Holdread said.

Holdread is a member of the Edwardsburg Chamber of Commerce as well as the Edwardsburg Public Schools Board of Education.

A total of 3,000 tickets are available for the event, free to those members of the community who wish to attend.

Holdread said the “chamber has been doing it for several years,” and the purpose of the event is “just to – if nothing else – show your support for Edwardsburg.”

Members of the community will get a chance to watch the South Bend Silver Hawks at Coveleski Stadium, all seated in the same section.

Holdread said upgrades were available from the free tickets for bleacher seats to seats with backs.

“It’s really a good time,” she said. “It’s amazing who all shows up and you really have a good time and most of them are neighbors.”

This year, Edwardsburg High School Junior Caitlin Reese will sing the Star Spangled Banner and chairman for the Edwardsburg Relay For Life, Chad King will throw out the first pitch.

“Just come out for a fun time,” Holdread said. “Everyone is encouraged to just come on out.”

Tickets are available at Lorie Bowers State Farm Agency and will also be available through Edwardsburg Public Schools and at select area businesses.
