CASSOPOLIS – The Cassopolis girls’ soccer team beat the visiting St. Joseph junior varsity 5-1 on April Fool’s day.

Bjargey Olafsson scored the first goal in the eighth minute of play.

A successful penalty kick by Olafsson in the 30th minute brought the score to 2-0 at the half.

St. Joe scored three minutes into the second half after taking advantage of a lack of communication between Cassopolis’ defense and their goalkeeper, bringing the score to 2-1.

Cassopolis’ Chastity Williams scored the third Ranger goal on an assist from Olafsson.  Malika Malik scored the Rangers’ fourth goal when she lobbed a long ball in that went over the head and through the hands of St. Joe’s goalie and in to the net.

A fifth goal was cracked in by Williams with an assist by Olafsson with just one second left of play to end the game 5-1.

The St. Joe team exhibited good passing and ball control, but could not match the tenacity of the Rangers, who outshot them with 15-8 shots on goal.
