MISHAWAKA, Ind. – Ashley Tackett doubled in the winning run in the sixth as visiting Edwardsburg defeated Mishawaka 4-1 on Monday.

Tackett was also the winning pitcher for the Eddies.

In the top of the first, Nicole Brooks singled, stole second and came around to score on an RBI single by Amelia Breslin.

Edwardsburg scored three times in the sixth inning to earn the victory.

Aubrey Coquillard walked and scored on an RBI double by Tackett.

Taylor McGrath followed with an RBI single up the middle to plate Tackett and came around to score on a single by Breslin.

Tacket allowed one run on five hits.

“This is a perfect way to start the season,” Edwardsburg coach Randy Brooks said. “Mishawaka has an outstanding softball program one of the best in Indiana and to start the season with a W is awesome. Tackett was really tough on the mound making many key pitches to get out of jams. She helped herself out by fielding well and that double to deep left gave us the lead.”
