Betty June (Paddock, Brooks) Stokes, 81, died Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 6:15 a.m. at Lakeland Hospital, Niles.

She was born to the late Willard and Lilly Rose (West) Paddock on June 16, 1928 in Buchanan. On April 1, 1969 she married Harvel L. Stokes, who preceded her in death Feb. 8, 2010.

Betty was a bus driver for the Niles School District as well as a waitress and a homemaker. She was a great mother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving is a daughter, Rosemary (Jimmie) Jackson, of Niles; sons, Delbert (Deborah) Brooks, of Plymouth, Ind., Harry (Sandi) Brooks, of East Jordan, Mich. and Fred Brooks of Plymouth, Ind.; sister, Thelma Antus, of Edwardsburg; brother, Clarance “Buck” Paddock, of Jackson, Mich.; 18 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and four grandchildren.

The funeral service will be Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. with visitation two hours prior from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan. Pastor Sean Kidd of the Buchanan Christian Church will officiate.
