Just a little more than a week after being seized by the Michigan Department of Treasury and being forced to close, the Stop-In Family Restaurant is back in business today.

Restaurant co-owner Dave McCarty said the Niles business was seized due to unpaid taxes to the state. He said the restaurant is in the “process of working things out” with the department of treasury and is able to reopen.

Stop-In is not wasting any time in setting up events. State Rep. Sharon Tyler will be at the restaurant to meet with residents on April 17 at 9 a.m. The restaurant’s second annual fundraiser for the Old Rugged Cross Foundation will take place May 8 with all money made that day benefiting the organization.

The Stop-In Family Restaurant is located at 1201 Barron Lake Rd.
