James S. Nemeth / Aug. 14, 1927-March 22, 2010

James’ life began on Aug. 14, 1927, in Chicago, the son of Steve and Bertha Nemeth.
He moved with his Hungarian-born parents from Chicago to a farm near Decatur as a child and graduated from Decatur High School.

James served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was united in marriage to the former Beverly Michaels on Oct. 15, 1955, in Keeler.
James was employed by Clark Equipment in Benton Harbor.

He was a member of the Steelheaders Association in St. Joseph and Trout Unlimited in Kalamazoo. James loved to fish Lake Michigan.

He was a hard worker and enjoyed working on his home and cottages.

Most of all, James was a dedicated family man. His loving family includes: his wife of 54 years, Beverly Nemeth of Sister Lakes; his daughters, Vicki Knutson of Cassopolis, Conni (Terry) Wittorp of Sister Lakes, Toni Nemeth of Dallas, Texas, and Jerri (Ty) Califf of Niles; one son, Michael Nemeth of Sister Lakes; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

James passed away at his home on Monday, March 22, 2010.

He is preceded in death by a granddaughter and two sisters, Grace Erikson and Frances Deming.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
