Bethel’s Zache named Pitcher of the Week

MISHAWAKA, Ind. – A pair of players for the No. 7 ranked Bethel College softball team were honored by the Mid-Central College Conference on Monday as they were selected as the conference pitcher and player of the week.

Senior Kelli Zache (Brandywine) was selected as the MCC Pitcher of the Week after she tossed 11 innings of shutout ball to go 2-0 on the week and improve to 8-0 on the season. Zache was also 2-3 with a homerun at the plate last week.

Fellow senior Mandy Cripe (Northridge) batted .636 (7-11) on the week with two triples, a homerun, and six RBI with zero strikeouts to earn MCC Player of the Week honors and to lead Bethel to a 4-0 week.

The Pilots are now 14-1-1 on the season and open up MCC play on Tuesday with a home doubleheader versus Grace College starting at 3 p.m.
