Janet C. Miner, 93 / Feb. 20, 1917 – March 18, 2010

Janet C. Miner, 93, of Dutch Settlement Road, Cassopolis and formerly of Harrah Road, Niles died at 3:31 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2010 at Meadow View Estates in Cassopolis in natural causes.

Janet was born Feb. 20, 1917 in Chicago to Spencer Clark and Daisy Dean (Iddings) Miner. She spend some time in Chicago, and lived most of her life in this area. In Chicago, she was employed as a legal secretary for many businessmen and also as a governess for several wealthy businessmen.

She enjoyed reading, especially non-action; gardening and all that nature has to offer; and cooking. In her youth, she traveled extensively.

Janet is survived by her sister; Julia E. Miner, of Niles; niece, Judy Liebers, of Limestone, Tenn.; nephews, Richard Miner, of Rosamond, Calif. and Phillip Miner, of Layton, Utah; and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Samuel S. Miner, who died May 12, 1997; Edward B. Miner, who died in 1982; Richard H. Miner, who died in 1976; and Robert W. Miner, who died in 1925.

Graveside services for Janet C. Miner will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Atlanta Cemetery in Atlanta, Ill. with Pastor Rob Roy of Atlanta United Methodist Church officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Halbritter Funeral home in Niles.
