James Scott Leak, 42, of Airport Road, Niles died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at his home. He apparently took his own life.

He was born June 13, 1967 in South Bend to James L. Leak and Peggy M. (Berkheiser) Leak. He graduated from Niles High School with the class of 1985 and was a lifetime area resident. He was employed for 15 years at Niles Precision Co. in Niles.

James attended First Church of God in Niles. He was a race car enthusiast, racing for more than eight years. He enjoyed snowmobile and motorcycle racing; he loved his Harleys and family gatherings.

He is survived by his stepdaughters, Ashley Olsen of Niles and Brooke Olsen, of Niles; parents, James and Peggy Leak, of Niles; sisters, Jammie L. Leak, of South Bend, Jennifer M. Leak, of Niles and Jill A. Leak, of Niles; a niece, Ashley Leak, of Niles; and a nephew, Kyle Hutchings, of South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 22, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Robert E. Jackson of First Church of God officiating.

Burial will be held at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens in Niles.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
