Thomas Edmund Berk, 56, of Niles died at 10 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010 at his home of an apparent heart attack.

He was born March 28, 1953 in La Porte, Ind. He lived all his life in the Michiana area. Thomas was a graduate of Clay High School and completed two years of college.

He was the owner of Sourse Distributing Co. as a pharmaceutical distributor. Tom was an excellent carpenter, doing most of this at home in Niles, where he could build anything.

On July 4, 1998 at his home in Niles he married Karen Lee (Hunt) Creech, who survives.
He is also survived by his father, Robert E. Berk of Niles; son, Joshua Berk of Arizona; stepson, Steven Joseph Creech of Clinton, S.C.; stepdaughter, Lane Hannan Creech, at home; sisters, Jacki Hans of Mishawaka and Marie “Kate” (Dan) Bergman of South Bend; several nieces and nephews; and three great-nephews.

Friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home in Edwardsburg. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the funeral home with Pastor Charles Mwale of Faith Mission in Elkhart officiating.

Cremation will follow services Wednesday.
