Jesse Eldon Miles, 69, died Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.  He was born May 10, 1940 to the late Luther and Evaline (Williams) Miles in Missouri.  He married Jean on Feb. 1, 1945 in Niles.

Jesse graduated from Buchanan High School in 1960. He was a machinist and worked for Clark Equipment Co., Hanson Precision and retired from South Shore Tool and Die. He was a true outdoorsman with hunting and fishing being his passions.

Surviving is his wife, Jean Miles of Buchanan; daughter, Vickie (Peter) Hartz of Buchanan; sons, Carl Eliason and Steve (Lisa) Eliason; sister, Mary (Glen) Carpenter of Irons, Mich.; sister-in-law, Janet Miles; grandchildren, David, Dylan, Dawson, Dakotah and Leilani Eliason; nieces, Sarah and Shaila Miles and nephew, Dan Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Miles.

The funeral service will be Friday, March 12 at 10:30 a.m. at the Swem Chapel, Buchanan. The Rev. Leonard Bailey of the Buchanan Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 11, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. also at the Swem Chapel.
