Cassopolis’ Frank Squires Early Elementary School won WSBT’s “I Love to Read Challenge” last month for the second straight year and welcomed newscaster Kristin Bien to read to the school on Feb. 11.

The challenge calls for community members to vote online for their favorite school. Principal Tracy Hertsel said Cassopolis defeated competitors in Berrien Springs and Dowagiac by “a landslide.”

Hertsel said the win was “very cool for the community.”

This month the school will have a “Reading Olympics” competition in which students can earn gold, silver and bronze medals based on how many age-appropriate books they read or have read to them.
