Jimming Hemminger, 51, of Niles died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Lakeland Hospital of Niles from a sudden illness at home.

Jimmy was born Aug. 6, 1958 in Niles, the son of Marvin and Theda (Brandon) Hemminger. He graduated from Edwardsburg High School and worked as a chef at several area restaurants, including Eddie’s Steak Shed in Granger. He also helped his father, Marvin, dig graves at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela (Warapius) Silva; three stepchildren, Kenneth Silva of Mishawaka and Kimberly and Crystal Silva at home; sister, Shirley (Gary) Merihew of Niles; and a brother, Tommy (LaDonna) Hemminger of Niles.

Friends will be received Monday, March 1, 2010 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Smith’s Chapel Church on Redfield Road, between Brush and Fir. The service will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Smith’s Chapel Cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
