he Niles-Buchanan YMCA Mariners have qualified five for the 9 and Over Age Group State Championships in Grand Rapids on Saturday.

The 9- and 10- year-old swimmers will compete in the morning.

The Mariners will have Matthew Norris, Vanya Ruppart and Lauren Kilgore swimming Saturday in the morning session.

Billy Walters will be competing in the 11- and 12- year-old-age group events in the afternoon.

On Sunday, Amanda Harlow, along with Ty Alexander, Adam Galaske and John Carey, who will wrap up their high school season on Saturday, will swim the 15 and over age group events.

Kilgore will swim the 100 individual medley, the 50-yard breakstroke and the 200-yard freestyle; Norris qualified for the 50-yard breaststroke; Walters will compete in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and the 50-yard backstroke; and Harlow will compete in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Ruppart will compete in the 100-yard individual medley and the 50-yard backstroke.

The next meet for the Mariners is the Great Lakes YMCA Zone Swimming Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio on March 13.
