BANGOR – Senior Ralph Sater of Brandywine earned a Division 4 regional championship Saturday afternoon at Bangor High School and a ticket to the Michigan High School Athletic Association state finals.

Sater will be joined in Auburn Hills by freshman teammate Chanc Ravish, who finished third.

Sater (45-9) went 3-0 on the day to capture the 135-pound championship.

In the opening round, Sater scored a technical fall (18-1) over Climax-Scotts’ Travis Wilson. In the semifinals, Sater pinned Richie Beeching of Decatur in 3:27.

Tommy Neff of Holton was the victim in the championship match as Sater won 6-3.

Ravish, a district champion, won his opening round match with a pin of Edgar Lineras of Lawrence, but lost to Hartford’s Travis Martin 12-6.

Ravish (45-10) advanced to the state tournament with back-to-back pins.

Ravish pinned Josh Schepel of Schoolcraft in 54 seconds and then pinned Skyler Schoff of Decatur in 1:00 of the 125-pound consolation final.

Arthur Morris went 1-2 on the day at 112-pounds, while Jimmie Wright was 1-2 at 119-pounds.

Cassopolis’ Josh McCoy did not advance at 119-pounds as he went 0-2 on the day.
