Quick start leads to another win for Chieftains

SOUTH HAVEN – Talk about getting off to a great start.

For the second straight contest, the Dowagiac girls’ basketball team roared out to a great start and then never looked back.

The Chieftains blanked Vicksburg 11-0 on Friday night en route to a victory, while on Tuesday night against host South Haven, Dowagiac led 23-2 after one quarter and went on to a 66-36 Wolverine Conference win.

The win raised the Chieftains’ record to 7-12 overall and 7-10 in league play.

By halftime Dowagiac led 34-10 and the Chieftains put 50 points on the board by the end of the third quarter.

Torie Lowe scored 22 points to lead all scorers, while the Chieftains also got 12 points from Marcie Ennesser and nine points from Kaisha Martin and eight points from Andrea Bradshaw.

Jocelyn Van Wynen and Emily Edwards both scored nine points to lead South Haven.
Dowagiac will host Paw Paw on Friday night in the regular season finale for the Chieftains.

Dowagiac will host the Class B District Tournament beginning on Monday.
