Drug investigation nets 2 arrests in Buchanan

Two Buchanan Township residents were arrested Tuesday following a week-long investigation into suspected drug trafficking at their home on Clear Lake Road.

Henry Lee Blackmon Jr., 23, and Jessica Renee Tabbert, 20, of 15810 West Clear Lake Rd., Apt. 11 are each charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver and maintaining a drug house.

The Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the Berrien County Sheriff Department’s Road Patrol, executed a search warrant at 8 a.m. for illegal narcotics at 15810 West Clear Lake Rd. Apt. 11 in Buchanan Township following a week-long investigation into suspected narcotic trafficking at this residence.

At the time of the search warrant execution, the officers located Blackmon and Tabbert inside of the residence. Also located inside of the residence was a 3-year-old child.
During a search of the residence, the officers located and seized approximately $300 worth of marijuana as well as other evidence of illegal narcotic trafficking.

Under the State of Michigan’s civil forfeiture law, the officers seized $81 in cash and two cell phones.

TheĀ  child was turned over to the custody of family members.

The suspects’ arraignments are pending in Berrien County Trial Courts.
