Three Rivers hands Dowagiac girls a 40-25 setback

THREE RIVERS – The offensive struggles of the Dowagiac girls’ basketball team continued Friday night.

The Chieftains scored just 25 points in a 15-point loss to host Three Rivers, 40-25.

Dowagiac kept it close for one quarter, but after trailing just 6-5 after one quarter, the Chieftains found themselves down 17-10 at the half.

The Wildcats doubled up the Dowagiac by the end of the third quarter, 30-15 and when the two teams both scored 10 points in the fourth quarter, Three Rivers had a 15-point victory.

Morgan Stuut had a game-high 17 points to lead the Wildcats, who also got seven points from Amy Newell.

Torie Lowe led the Chieftains with 13 points. Kaisha Martin added five points and Breneesha Jones four.

Dowagiac will travel to Plainwell tonight to make up its Wolverine Conference game with the Trojans.
