Dowagiac JV cagers get past Three Rivers

The Dowagiac junior varsity basketball team outscored Three Rivers 17-8 in the fourth quarter Thursday night to pull out a 51-44 victory.

Dowagiac trailed at each of the first three quarter breaks, but finally put the ball in the hole in the final quarter.

Brendon Murray had six of his 11 points in the final eight minutes.

Tyler Clark led all scorers with 20 points. Dowagiac also got six points from Eric Charles and five points from Craig Zebell.

Freshmen basketball
The Chieftains were not as fortunate in the freshmen contest as the Wildcats posted a 66-36 win.

Joey Pasternak had 11 points to lead Dowagiac, which also got eight points from Todd McIntyre and four points each from Paul Lamphere and Cam Ruff.

JV girls’ basketball
The Dowagiac junior varsity girls’ basketball team was defeated by Three Rivers 39-12.

Kelsie Primley led the Chieftains with 10 points. Carly Polomcak had the other two points.
