A Niles man was injured in a two-car accident in Howard Township Wednesday.

Sheriff Joseph Underwood Jr. reports that deputies from Cass County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury traffic crash at 9:45a.m.  The crash occurred on M-60, east of Pine Lake Street in Cass County’s Howard Township. The crash occurred as the vehicle driven by Stephen Wuthnow, 20, of Niles was travailing westbound on M-60.

Michael Osban, 38, of Buchanan was stopped westbound alongside M-60 when Wuthnow lost control of his vehicle and struck the back of Osban’s tanker truck.  Wuthnow was transported to South Bend Memorial for his injuries.

Seatbelts were worn and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

Howard Township Fire Department and Southwestern Michigan Community Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
