Edwardsburg keeps hopes alive

The Edwardsburg wrestling team kept its hopes of a Lakeland Conference championship alive with a 56-16 win over visiting Coloma.

The Eddies are now 5-1 on the year, but trails undefeated Buchanan heading to Saturday’s Lakeland Conference match at Coloma High School.

Edwardsburg will need to finish ahead of the Bucks at the conference tournament in order to earn a share of the league title.

Earning wins for the Eddies on Wednesday were Ivan Shaw (103), Mike Kempton (112), Caleb Watson (119), Cameron Warren (125), Ross Karaman (130), Wade Smous (152), Bradley Brasfield (160), Dylan Devenney (171), Devin Bywaters (189), Troy Duck (215) and Josh Williams (285).

Watson, Warren, Smous, Brasfield and Duck all won via the pin. Karaman and Williams picked up forfeits.

Cassopolis at Berrien Springs
BERRIEN SPRINGS – Too many forfeits cost the Cassopolis wrestling team a shot at defeating Lakeland Conference foe Berrien Springs.

The Rangers gave up forfeits at 103, 112, 145, 152, 215 and 285-pounds to the Shamrocks.

The Rangers did receive a forfeit of their own at 130-pounds.

Winning on the mat for Cass was Patrick Allen at 135-pounds, Bretho Danzy at 140-pounds and Jaylin Lawson at 160-pounds.

David Sopaseuth picked up the win at 130-pounds for the Rangers.
