Edward Lamar Yoder, 59, of Ontwa Township, Edwardsburg died at 10:24 a.m.

Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010 while as a patient at Hospice House in Elkhart after an illness.

He was born Oct. 14, 1950 in Elkhart to Stanley Yoder and Mary W. Hapner. He lived all his life in the Michiana area and graduated from Edwardsburg High School.

He was an auto mechanic and worked in auto maintenance. He formerly worked for his father at Stan’s Auto of Edwardsburg and also at McDonald’s in maintenance and delivered newspapers. He was an avid NASCAR fan, watching all the races. He dearly loved his grandchildren and being involved with their activities.

On May 1, 1976 in Elkhart he married Pamela J. McKay, who survives.

He is survived by his father, Stan Yoder of Edwardsburg; son, Phillip Joab (Bonda) McKay of New Paris, Ind.; daughters, Jamie Yolanda Yoder and Jillian Joann Yoder, at home; brother, Richard (Cathie) Yoder of Edwardsburg; sister, Rosemary (Mike) Horne of Frederick, Md.; and seven grandchildren.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010 at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home in Edwardsburg with the Rev. Lee Campbell, pastor of New Hope United Methodist Church, Elkhart officiating.

Friends called from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2 at the funeral home. Burial was held at Adamsville Cemetery.
