Robert D. Crawford, 74, of Redfield Road, Edwardsburg died at 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1, 2010 at home following an extended illness.
He was born April 12, 1935 in Mishawaka to Durwood Frank Crawford and Pearl Popielski. He lived most of his lifetime in Edwardsburg.
He retired in 2008 after 44 years of service from Light’s Barber Shop in Niles. He was a member of the B.P.O. of Niles Elks Lodge No. 1322 and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 449, Buchanan. He was an avid fisherman and fished every fishing hold from here to Canada. He also enjoyed hunting when he was younger.
On Oct. 21, 1995 in Niles he married Helga E. (Schmitt) Crawford, who survives.
He is also survived by his sons, Robert J. Crawford of Dowagiac, Herb E. (Penny) Eggers of Granger; daughters, LeAnn M. (David) Money of Niles, Lisa Mason of Elkhart and Elona L. (Tom) Wiltrout of Flushign, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joan Berta of South Bend.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 at Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. David Otto of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiating. There will be no visitation.
